Bethesda has delayed indefinitely the mods of the version compatibility for Fallout 4PlayStation 4, has announced the study on Twitter.
The problems which were found to carry the Sony console mods have made that turn back temporarily is the only viable solution; Although there is the possibility to upload mods to PS4 Creation Kit, the study has chosen to delay the beta on that platform to dodge a few serious problems.
Bethesda Blog they explained a fortnight ago the main problems. One of the hottest is the limitation of space: the mods for PS4 could not occupy more than 900 MB, in contrast with the 2 GB limit of the Xbox One, where compatibility with mods available since the beginning of the month. «Please, do not you go up mods more than 900 MB», call from the Studio. “We are working with Sony to increase this limit.”
Other problems have to do with the use of textures of the PC version, so «there may be problems of memory and performance», and the incompatibilities with the sound files, which in PS4 used a proprietary format. In both cases, they say to be collaborating with Sony to achieve «optimal export of textures» and the «processing sound files’ in future updates.
In the absence of solutions for all this, it has been decided to delay the arrival of the mods; at the moment, the study has chosen to not give an approximate date.
They have also used to update the requirements for posting mods to consoles. After the controversy caused by a series of mods stolen and uploaded to the version of Xbox One, Bethesda has decided to implement a new security step: on an account at Bethesda.net is not only required to publish mods, but that we must also have a copy of Fallout 4 and link the profile of Steam with the Bethesda.net.
